I’m sorry you were so misinformed. Officers that worked with or for Haug consider him a fool. He said that in his career he’s arrested 100 people. Most officers in the valley arrest 100 people their first year in the job. Haug is not a “similarly situated” officer. And you don’t know the details of the prior 2 OIS. Don’t use the fact that Officer Nelson was forced to use his firearm previously as justification for your choices. Dis you do any research on Jesse sarey and his previous crimes? Why was a registered sex offender with active warrants free? I wonder how the woman he tried to rape feels? I wonder why the doctor in court never mentioned the amount of meth he was on??? Perhaps the wool is thicker than you think.
I want to start by saying that I know if I was in your position I would likely feel exactly as you do. I do wish we would have known more about a lot of things. What I have provided is an honest reflection of what went through my mind and the minds of other jurors at that time given the information we had. It would be a mistake to assume that feelings I had in those moments back in June are absolutely the same today. I will write an afterward chapter where I will deal with the difficult and conflicted feelings I have had since the trial completed. To answer your question about doing research...no, I did not. I stayed very true to the oath to not do any research during the trial. I truly formed the basis of my verdict solely on the testimony given during the trial. I very much understand now how much we didn't get to see, and that is something that we could not and should not have controlled. I understand if you are angry at me and the jury as a whole; I would probably feel the same way. I am sure you are angry at Judge Phelps and the defense attorneys; that would seem to me to be well placed anger as I believe there is a lot of responsibility there for what the jury did not hear.
BS registered sex offender he never attempted or rape anyone. It was far from that. As far as registering he was unhoused and did not have an address. WTF relevance does any of that have on how Nelson murdered Jesse!
The blue are notorious for their lies because it doesn’t fit their narrative. Nelson was a ticking time bomb. He’s a danger to society and a soulless monster.
I’m glad you were able to come to an agreement on the case of guilty. Jesse’s past doesn’t compare to Nelson’s. Facts matter. https://www.auburn-reporter.com/news/documents-detail-auburn-police-officers-troubled-history/
